Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 9/14/20 and concluded on 9/17/20. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 20 children and 6 staff present at the facility. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on a review of two staff records and interview, it was determined that the licensee did not ensure that all employees hired prior to January 22, 2018 have a completed national criminal history record check (finger printing) by September 30, 2018.
Evidence: 1. The record for staff #2 (date of hire 9/22/03), working during the inspection, did not contain documentation of a completed national criminal history record check (finger printing). 2. Staff #3 (Program Administrator) review the record for the staff #2, and confirmed that staff did not have the results of his national criminal history record check (finger printing) by September 30, 2018 available for viewing during the inspection.
Plan of Correction:
The facility responded: Staff #2 had previously completed the fingerprint criminal record background check prior to the deadline. However, we were unable to locate it during the inspection. We will schedule staff #2 to complete a fingerprint criminal record background check and forward the results when received to the Licensing Inspector.
