Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding background checks and the upcoming license renewal process.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 11/20/20. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 13 children present and 4 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Based on records review, the center did not obtain fingerprint based criminal record check for an employee before the first date of employment. Evidence: 1. Staff # 1's first date of employment was listed as 8/31/20. 2. Staff # 1's fingerprint results were dated 1023/20.
Plan of Correction:
Due to uncertainty caused by COVID 19, it was unsure when the center would reopen causing a delay in obtaining the fingerprint results. Moving forward these will be obtained before a new employee begins employment.
