Comments:
An unannounced complaint inspection was conducted on 12/07/2023 in response to allegations received by the licensing office on 12/01/2023 in the areas of safe sleep. There was a total of 61 children and 10 staff present during the inspection. Observation of the infants room and policies and procedures were reviewed during the inspection. On 12/07/20203, the inspector arrived to the center at 12:15 Pm and departed at 2:45 PM. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that the child day center is in compliance with all safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
Evidence: 1.Observed 5 infants (two 6 months old, a 3 months old, a 4 months old and a 10 months old) sleeping on boppy pillow in a crib. The AAP recommends to keep all soft objects such as pillows, and pillow like toys from the infants sleeping area. 2.Observed two infants with propped bottles. The bottles were propped with a blanket that was wrapped around the infant?s lower face. The AAP recommends that never attach objects, such as blankets, plush or stuffed toys and other items that may present a suffocation or choking risk.
