Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 12/12/2023 from10:30am to 1:30pm. At the time of the inspection there were 101 children and 28 staff present. Children were observed playing on the playground, engaged in circle time, center and manipulative play. Records were reviewed for nine children and five staff. Medication, emergency procedures, emergency supplies and drills were also reviewed during the inspection. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice and discussed during the exit interview.
Based on observation and interviews, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials are kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1. In a 3?5-year-old classroom, laundry detergent was in an unlocked storage area that was accessible to children. 2. The Director confirmed the door to the storage area containing the detergent was not locked.
Plan of Correction:
The Director locked the storage area door during the inspection. The Director reminded staff the door must remain locked.
