Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm. There were 80 children in care being supervised by 12 staff. The children were observed resting and playing outdoors, infants were observed engaging in free play and being bottle-fed. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of four child records and three staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-160-A
Description: Based on observation of three staff records it was determined that not all records contained documentation of a negative TB screening by the first day of employment or no more than 30 days before the first day of employment. Evidence:
1.) The records for Staff A (start date: 11/30/22) and Staff C (start date: 10/3/22) did not have documentation of a negative TB screening on file.
2.)The record for staff B (start date: 11/14/22) had a TB screening on file dated 09/24/2022.

Plan of Correction: Staff A and Staff C will obtain a TB screening and submit the results to administration. Staff B will obtain a new TB screening and submit the results to administration.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation of the Toddler room it was determined that not all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place. Evidence: A bottle of cleaning solution was observed on a low shelf in the toddler room.

Plan of Correction: The cleaning solution was locked during the inspection.
