Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided in the following areas: annual training, play areas, emergency procedures.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a in-person tour of the program A renewal inspection was initiated on 3/2/22 and concluded on 3/3/22. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 31 children present and 4 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 4 staff records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-350-B
Description: Based on on observation and interviews, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that for children, three years up tp school age eligible, one staff member for every ten children is maintained at all times children are in care.

Evidence:
1. Staff #1 was observed working alone in the Pre-K classroom with 11 children. The children present were ages 4 years old.
2. Staff #1 was observed working alone in the Pre-K classroom with 11 children. The children present were ages 4 years old.
3. Staff #4 confirmed the two classrooms were not operating with the correct staff-to-child ratio.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded: We thought we had been approved for the staff-to-child ratio waiver. The classrooms were adjusted to meet the correct ratio, and we have submitted the staff-to-child ratio waiver to be approved.
