Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 4/13/22 from 10:30am to 12:00pm with the provider. There were six children in care, ranging in age from eight-months to two-years-old, for a total of 16 points. Children were observed coloring "v" for vegetable pictures, playing outside, and transitioning inside and washing hands. Three child records, the provider record, one assistant record, and one pet record were reviewed. The provider has current certification in CPR and First Aid. The provider does not administer medication and is aware that in order to administer medication, Medication Administration Training is required. The first aid kit, flashlight, and weather band radio were observed. The emergency drill log, attendance, and menu were also reviewed. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.
Based on record review, the provider did not obtain a tuberculosis (TB) screening from a caregiver at the time of hire and prior to coming into contact with children. Evidence: The record for Caregiver #1, with a start date of 3/16/22, did not contain a TB screening.
Plan of Correction:
When I hired my new assistant we thought she had a current TB test, however, we then realized it was expired and she went to get one. Results for the test were obtained on 4/13/22 and scanned to the Inspector on 4/18/22.
