Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection from 9:45 am - 12:00 pm. There were 71 children in care with 16 staff. The children were observed in group activities, at story time with a special guest, playing a game and during lunch. Eight staff's records and seven children's records were reviewed. One violation from the previous inspection was repeated. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Based on observation, the center failed to maintain the facility in a clean and safe condition. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the preschool playground. There are tree roots from the tree closest to the building and tree roots from the tree closest to the front fence exposed and creating tripping hazards. In the toddler classroom there is an A-B-C rug that has dirt and debris. In the infant room there is a window that has a crack in the glass and a window in the door in the preschool one room with a crack in the glass. Both windows are covered with tape.
Plan of Correction:
The director said they will have sod placed over these tree roots. The center has already requested an estimate for the sod. The rug will be cleaned. Replacement windows have been ordered. As soon as the windows arrive, they will be installed.
