Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today September 17, 2019 to determine the centers compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 9:45 am and concluded the inspection at 12:00 pm. Upon the inspectors arrival children in the three year old classroom were finishing up center play and preparing for a guest. Today's guest did a lesson for both classrooms on the life cycle of butterflies. Children went outside to the garden where they viewed a chrysalis and a monarch caterpillar attached to the leaves of a milkweed plant with magnifying glasses. Children also listened to a story and had snack. Children conducted hand washing before sitting down for snack. Children in the four year old classroom listened to the story "Peppa's New Friend". Later children from both classrooms played with hula-hoops, scooters, pop-up tunnel and bouncy balls in the dance studio as the weather did not permit outdoor play. The two classroom areas, rest rooms, and hallway were inspected. The classrooms are equipped with age and stage appropriate materials. The facility had the required information posted to include: license, last inspection notice, emergency numbers, daily schedule, evacuation maps/ procedures and various parent information. The first aide kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. The inspector interacted with staff and children in care. Staff interacted with the children in a positive manner.

Three staff records and five children's records were reviewed.
Per the Director, medications are currently not being administered and are not on site. Staff have current CPR, First aid training.
Children provide their own meals which were labeled with names and today's date.
Today's Census:
(four year old classroom): 7 children with 1 staff.
(three year old classroom): 6 children with 2 staff.

Transportation is not being provided.
If you have questions regarding today's inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.

2. The records for all three staff did not have documentation of current daily health observation training.
3. Staff #2 stated there was no one on site with daily health observation training.

Plan of Correction: Per the director: We will have a nurse come in and conduct the training with all our staff.
