Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted at Macedonia United Methodist Church on 10/10/19 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm to review the religious exempt requirements. At the time of the inspection 34 children were present with seven staff. The sample size consisted of five children's records and eight staff's records. Children and staff were observed during free indoor and outdoor play, educational and artistic activities, dismissal, hand washing, bathroom break, transitions and behavioral management. Standard #: 63.2(17)-1716-B-3
Description: Based on interview, the center failed to establish and implement a procedure in which a daily health screening and exclusion of sick children by a person trained to perform such a screening is conducted daily.

Evidence:

The director stated no staff have been formally trained in daily health screening. The center does have an exclusion policy and staff do check children each morning upon arrival for illnesses.

Plan of Correction: All staff will complete training in daily health screening.

The director stated no staff have been formally trained in recognizing child abuse and neglect.

Plan of Correction: All current staff will be trained in recognizing child abuse and neglect. In the future all staff will be trained in recognizing child abuse and neglect prior to working with children.
