Comments:
An unannounced code compliance inspection for the religiously exempt child day center was conducted on 04/15/2024. There was a total of 42 children, ages 3 months-5 years and 13 staff present during the inspection. A total of 5 children?s records and 5 staff records were reviewed during the inspection. The inspector arrived at 9:20 am and departed at 11:30 am.
Information gathered during the inspection determined there to be violations of applicable laws. Those violations are detailed on the violation notice issued to the provider.
Based on document review and staff interviews, the center failed to ensure that no person shall be hired for compensated employment prior to the facility obtaining an employment eligibility letter upon the completion of a fingerprint background check as required by the Code of Virginia.
Evidence: The record for Staff 1 contained a documented hire date of 01/18/2024; the employment eligibility letter in the record for Staff 1 was dated 01/16/2024.
Plan of Correction:
System has been created to get fingerprints prior to hire.
