Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding daily health observation training. Standard 240-D-5 states: There shall always be at least one staff member on duty who has obtained within the last three years instruction in performing the daily health observation of children.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 2/10/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 22 children present and 6 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on record review, the center did not obtain the results of a fingerprint based national criminal history background check prior to employment for all staff.
Evidence: Staff #2 (Date of Hire: 9/15/2015) did not have eligible fingerprinting results on file.
Plan of Correction:
Employee #2 did get initial fingerprints done but due to a glitch results were not accurate. Employee #2 will retake fingerprints on Saturday, 2/13/21.
