Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on January 8, 2021 and concluded on January 8, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 58 children present and 10 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on review of staff records and interview, the facility did not obtain a completed out of state sex offender registry for each state an individual has resided in the past 5 years prior to the first day of employment.
Evidence:
1. The record of staff #2, hired 01/25/2021 and was identified as living outside the state of Virginia in the past five years, had documentation of a out of state sex offender registry dated 02/01/2021 exceeding the date of hire. 2. The administrator acknowledged the out of state sex offender registry had been obtained after the first day of employment.
Plan of Correction:
Per the administrator: I did not realize the time frame changes that had been adopted by new legislature out of state background checks. All out of state background checks will be obtained prior to hire going forward.
