Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between the hours of 10:30 am- 12:15 pm. There were a total of 31 children with seven supervising staff members present. Children were observed during gym time, toy play, engaged in group activities, and outdoor play time. A selection of staff and children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Based on record review and interview, the Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course was not completed within 90 calendar days of employment. Evidence: 1. Staff #1 (Start date-5/17/22), Staff #2, (Start date-10/26/21) and Staff #3's(Start date-10/14/21) did not complete the Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course. 2. Staff #4 confirmed that the Department's orientation course was not completed within 90 days of employment.
Plan of Correction:
The Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course will be completed by employees by the end of the week.

Description:
Based on observation, areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, were not maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The foot peddle of the trash can located in the diapering area of the early preschool classroom was broken.
Plan of Correction:
An operational foot pedal operated trashcan was placed into the classroom during the time of the inspection.
