Comments:
An unannounced Renewal inspection was conducted this date. A total of 70 children with 11 staff were observed on site today. All children and staff were in the main programming space due to an HVAC maintenance issue. The children were observed sitting at tables having lunch. Lunch today was cheese quesadillas, salad and fresh fruit with milk to drink. The transition from lunch, to washing hands to preparing for nap time was observed. Observation of all 5 classrooms was made, review of medication and a total of 4 children's records and 3 staff records were reviewed. The center's revised emergency preparedness plan was also reviewed. Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: lisa.hudson@doe.virginia.gov with questions.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation of the Preschool 1 classroom, a cleaning material was found unlocked.
Evidence:
A spray bottle of soap and water was found unlocked on top of the diaper changing area.

Plan of Correction: We will lock all hazardous substances and remind staff to lock these items when finished with using them.

Description: Based on observation of the Preschool 1 classroom, diaper ointment was found accessible to children.
Evidence:
Diaper ointment was found on the shelving located below the diaper surface and also near the sink. These areas were accessible to children in care.

Plan of Correction: We will remove these and relocate them higher so children will not have access to them.

Evidence:
The Preschool 1 and 2 lunch tables have children ages 3 years and younger. Apples that were sliced in quarters were served to the children.

Plan of Correction: We will speak with our food handler to ensure all food served is cut to prevent choking hazards.
