Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on November 17, 2020 and concluded on December 7, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 31 children present and six staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children's records and three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
The information gathered during the inspection determined that there were violations with applicable standards or law. Violations were documented on the Notice of Violation emailed to the provider.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on record review and discussion with the staff, the center failed to obtain central registry findings within 30 days of employment.
Evidence:
1. The record for Staff #1 had a documented hire date of 7/27/2020 and a central registry finding date of 9/30/2020. 2. There was no documentation in the file showing attempts to locate the central registry check and there was no information in the file to demonstrate that Staff #1 discontinued work with children after the 30 days passed.
