Comments:
A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 9/18/2023. There were 4 children present with the provider. The point total was 9. The children were observed eating breakfast and engaged playing with various toys. A total of 4 child records, 1 staff record and 1 family member record were reviewed. The inspection started at 9:25 am and concluded at 10:30 am.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22.1-289.035-A
Description: Based on record review and staff interview the licensee did not ensure to obtain background checks every five years.
Evidence: Staff confirmed that the most recent criminal history check for staff #1 was dated 8/28/2018.

Plan of Correction: Background check renewal will be completed.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-350-E
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure the hot water at taps available to children shall be maintained within a range of 105?F to 120?F.
Evidence: The licensing inspector using a temperature gauge confirmed that the hot water registered 123?F at the sink in the bathroom where the children wash their hands.

Plan of Correction: Husband will adjust water temperature.
