Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 1/3/20 from 11:35am until 1:40pm. At the time of entrance, there were 86 children in care with 14 staff and 2 administrators. A sample of 9 children's records and 9 staff records were reviewed. Children were observed participating in morning activities, eating lunch and resting quietly during nap time. Restroom, hand washing and infant feeding procedures were also observed. Medication, first aid and emergency supplies, documentation of emergency practice drills, children's injury reports and center postings were reviewed. One violation in the area of physical plant is identified on the violation notice and was discussed with the center director during the exit interview.
Based on observation and interview, the center did not ensure that areas of the center shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition.
Evidence: 1. There are several areas of peeling paint on the blue wall in the Giraffes classroom. The areas of peeling paint are within reach of the children. 2. The center director confirmed that there are areas of peeling paint in the Giraffes classroom.
Plan of Correction:
The center responded with the following: The areas of peeling paint will be spackled and repainted by 1/10/20.
