Technical Assistance:
Reviewed the playground safety plan with site director as Arlington County has installed new equipment and renovated the community park. One large piece is not meant for preschool children and the program does not allow the children on that side of the playground during center hours.
Comments:
An unannounced monitoring visit was conducted today. Observed children transitioning from water play on the far basketball court area. Twenty two preschool children were in attendance with 3 counselors in training and 6 staff. In the classroom space, children transitioned from an art project to hand washing and lunch/snack time. Reviewed 4 children's records, staff emergency contacts, training and physical space. Emergency preparation for drills, first aid supplies and medication administration training (MAT) were current. Based on medication review, a medication was not labeled with the child's name. Evidence: Child #1 had an over the counter medication box that was not labeled to identify the owner.
Plan of Correction:
The medication box was labeled during the inspection.
