Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A renewal inspection was initiated on July 13, 2020 and concluded on July 15, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 32 children present and 7 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records, 3 staff records and the background checks for 2 additional staff submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on record review and staff interviews, the licnesee did not ensure that every applicant for licensure as a child day center at the time of application who is or will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the child day center or who is or will be alone with, in control of, or supervising one or more of the children; shall undergo a background check in accordance with subsection B prior to issuance of a license as a child day center and every five years thereafter.
Evidence: The record for staff #3 did not include a child protective service check (CPS) that been conducted every five years. The most recent CPS check is dated 4-17-2015. Center Director confirmed it had not been conducted.
Plan of Correction:
Staff #3's original submission rejected. Resubmitted and awaiting results. Mailed on July 13, 2020
