Technical Assistance:
Clarified the requirement that immunizations and health examinations must be obtained directly from the physician office and not from a patient portal. The immunizations and health examinations must be either signed or stamped to verify the document.
Discussed the maximum amount of points allowed for each caregiver and the need to plan activities to ensure adequate staffing.
Comments:
A Renewal inspection was conducted this date. A total of 12 children (31pts) with 3 staff were onsite during the inspection. At the beginning of the inspection, some of the older children were observed outside with staff and engaged in sidewalk chalk drawings. A nice transition was observed from outside to inside. Handwashing procedures were observed prior to the children sitting down for lunch. Two levels of the home were observed. No medication needs at this time. The children transitioned from lunch to floor activities where they interacted with staff and one another. Cots were laid out and appropriately spaced as the children prepared for nap time. A total of 3 children's records, all staff and household member files were reviewed. This inspection began at approximately 10:30am and ended at 1pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: lisa.hudson@doe.virginia.gov with any questions.
Based on child record review, one physical examination was not obtained within 30 days of a child's first day of attendance. Evidence: Child #1 first day of attendance was 08/24/2022. Documentation of a health examination was not obtained until 2/7/2023.
Plan of Correction:
Health exams will be obtained either prior to start date or within 30 days of the start date.
