Technical Assistance:
Discussed the need to obtain out of state background checks that include a Central Regtistry and Criminal Record search depending on which state that staff have resided in.

Comments:
An unannounced Monitoring Inspection was conducted today. A total of 10 children (20pts) with 3 staff providing supervision were onsite. At the beginning of the inspection, the children and staff were transitioning from backyard playtime to inside. The children took their shoes off, placed them in the storage bin and proceeded to wash their hands. Several children were seen accessing their water bottles to hydrate. Staff assisted with shoes and handwashing. The children were provided several activities to engage in such as laminated letters where the children traced the outline of the letters with their fingers. Floor sensory materials were laid out and the children gathered in several small grouping to participate with building objects out of the pieces of tactile items. A nice transition to prepare for lunch was observed where the children assisted with putting away their activities and washed and hands and sat quietly at their tables for lunch. Staff was observed serving lunch which consisted of milk, rice, beans and tofu with peas and grapes that were cut into small pieces to prevent any choking concerns. Milk was provided to drink. A total of 6 children's records and all staff and 1 household record was reviewed. The previous violation found during the last inspection was reviewed and corrective action was verified today. This inspection occurred between 11am and 12:30pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: lisa.hudson@doe.virginia.gov with any questions.
