Technical Assistance:
Technical Assistance provided and licensing standards regarding the playground area were reviewed.
Comments:
A renewal inspection was completed on June 1, 2023. The inspectors arrived at 12:00pm and departed at 1:05pm. There were ten children present and three staff with a total of 22 points. Children were observed transitioning from lunch to nap and rest time. The Inspectors reviewed five children?s records and three caregiver records, and household members. Emergency preparedness documents were observed, first aid kits were checked, and fire drill logs were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. The inspection and violation was discussed and reviewed at the exit interview.
Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that the family day home be maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. A lit candle was left unattended in the daycare area on a shelf posing as a fire and safety hazard. Children were present in the family day home. 2. The provider confirmed that there was a lit candle in the daycare area of the home.
Plan of Correction:
The provider responded with the following: The provider immediately blew out the lit candle and will not light candles in the home while children are present in care.
