Technical Assistance:
1. Discussed ongoing health and safety practices as it relates to the health pandemic. 2. Inspector provided a medication policy form that all parents should sign upon enrollment, or when there is a change in policy. 3. Parents should not sign "medication consent forms" if the provider is not going to given the medicine, or is not certified to do so. Additionally, the consent forms are only good for 14-days. Longer consent requires a physician's signature.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by staff using an alternative remote protocol, including phone interview, records review, and a virtual observations. An on-site inspection was not conducted at this time.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted at 9:37am. The provider was contacted by phone to initiate the inspection. There were 11 children present = 36 points with the provider + 2 assistant caregivers. Ratios were in compliance at the time of inspection. Children were observed having indoor playtime and preparing for circle-time, while infants were napping. The home was well supplied with toys and equipment for children, and appeared clean and organized today. Information gathered during the inspection determined there was an area of non-compliance with applicable standards or laws reviewed. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@doe.virginia.gov
Note: Current regulation and Code numbers are handwritten on the original inspection report issued to the Provider.
Based on records reviewed and information received, it was determined that the provider has agreed to give over-the-counter medications though she is not currently trained in medication administration training (MAT).
Evidence:
1. Child #5 - Has written consent from parents to administer Tylenol. Signed by parent on 1/11/22. 2. The providers MAT certification expired 6/21/21.
Plan of Correction:
The provider said she is scheduled to take MAT in April 2022. The inspector sent the provider a medication policy form parents should sign upon enrollment, or whenver the policy changes.
