Technical Assistance:
Reminder that each caregiver must complete 16 training hours per year.
Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 9:00am and 12:00pm. There were 6 children (16 points) present with 2 caregivers. The children were observed playing with wooden puzzles, riding toys, playing outside and an infant was observed playing with caregiver, bottle feeding and nap. The physical plant, 2 caregivers files, 7 children's files and 2 household members files, evacuation log, attendance log, emergency supplies, menu's and cribs were inspected. Based on record review and interview with provider, the provider failed to obtain written authorization from a parent to administer medication.
Evidence:
Child # 7 has emergency medication at the family day home for a diagnosed condition. The provider does not have written authorization from the parent to administer.

I will not administer medication.

Based on caregiver record review, the provider failed to ensure that prescription medication will be administered by a caregiver who has satisfactorily completed a training program for the purpose or developed or approved by the Board of Nursing and taught be a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, doctor of medicine or osteopathic medicine or pharmacist or is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to administer medication.
Evidence:
