New CDC standards effective 10/13/2021 discussed.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A renewal inspection was initiated on 10/13/2021 and concluded on 10/28/2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 120 children present, ranging in ages from infancy- 5 years, with 18 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 children's records and 6 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-2
Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to ensure that all applicants for employment and employees shall undergo a background check prior to employment.

Evidence:
1. The fingerprint background check clearance letter for staff 1 was received on 10/12/2021 which was after her hire date of 08/02/2021.
2. Administrative staff verified that staff 1 began employment prior to receipt of the fingerprint background check clearance letter.

Plan of Correction: Background Check (fingerprints) will be verified by another member of school's leadership team prior to an employee's first day on the job. An audit system will be in place.
