Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between the hours of 10:00 am through 11:30 am. There were a total of eight children (16 points) observed with three caregivers. A total of four children's files and three staff/household member's files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: toy play, games, diaper changing, handwashing, lunch, and other organized activities. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation, medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. An epinephrine injector and a bottle of Diphenhydramine was located on a high shelf not accessible by children in the family day home.

Plan of Correction: The medication will be moved to a locked location.
