22VAC40-191 Background Checks for Child Welfare Agencies
Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced complaint inspection in response to a complaint that was received by the licensing office on 8/15/2014. Interviews were conducted with children, staff and parents relating to allegations of inappropriate discipline. The preponderance of the evidence gathered during the investigation does not support the allegation, so the complaint is determined to be "not valid." A violation notice was completed regrading a violation found but, not related to the complaint. If you have any questions, contact Angela Farmer at (276) 676-5493.
Based on review of staff records the center did not obtain the required rechecks on background checks. Evidence: 1. Staff #1 was hired 1/6/11. The criminal history records check is dated 1/19/11 and the central registry report is dated 1/24/11. Both background checks are to be repeated every three years, these background checks expired 1/19/14 and 1/24/14 respectfully.
Plan of Correction:
The program director has mailed off all the staff's rechecks and will monitor the backgrounds checks to insure that all background checks are repeated within the three year time frames.
