Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-670-B
Complaint related: Yes
Description: Based on record review, interviews, and review of documentation, the parents or designated emergency contact of a sick child was not contacted immediately so that arrangements could be made to remove the child from the home as soon as possible.
Evidence:
Evidence:
1. On 08/19/2021, Child #1?s parents or emergency contact was not contacted immediately after Child #1?s temperature was taken after naptime by Staff #1 and registered 100.8 degrees. According to a text message sent from Staff #1 on at 6:34pm to Child #1?s parents, Staff #1 wrote, ?Yes [they] had a fever? But it was not 104? It was 101.?
2. During an interview on 08/23/2021, Staff #1 confirmed that Child #1?s temperature was taken after they felt warm and it registered as 100.8 degrees, but did not contact the parents because it was close to pick up time and they thought that the fever was due to teething.
3. At approximately 6:20pm on 08/19/2021, Child #1's temperature was taken by their parents and registered 104 degrees. Child #1 was rushed to the emergency room for care.

Plan of Correction: I will call the parent when a child is starting to get a fever and not wait for it to spike in case a need for emergency care arises.
