Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A monitoring inspection was initiated on March 17, 2021 and concluded on March 18, 2021. The director /owner was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 61 children present and 13 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 4 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on 4 staff records reviewed and staff interviews, the licensee failed to ensure the child day center had obtained a copy of the results of criminal records check, a sex offender registry check, and a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
Evidence: The record for staff #1 did not include a sex offender registry check. Staff #1 began working on 2-16-2021 and was working during the inspection. Center director confirmed the check had not been completed.
Plan of Correction:
Sex offender registry for staff #1 received today.
