This annual subsidy inspection was conducted by the inspector using an alternate remote protocol necessary due to a state of emergency declared by the Governor of Virginia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Preliminary data was obtained from the vendor on October 21, 2020.
An annual subsidy inspection was initiated on October 27, 2020, at which time the vendor was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection, and concluded on October 27, 2020. The inspector emailed the vendor a list of items required to complete the inspection.
The vendor reported there were 38 children in care and seven staff. The inspector reviewed three children?s records and three staff records submitted by the vendor to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Information gathered during the inspection determined areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations or law, and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the vendor.
Based on review of three staff records and interview, the vendor did not obtain required documentation for two individuals within 30 days of beginning employment.
Evidence: 1. The record for Staff #1 (hire date 8/20/2020) contained an eligibility letter based on a national criminal record search dated 10/14/2020 and the findings of a central registry search dated 10/20/2020. 2. The record for Staff #2 (hire date 09/01/2020) contained an eligibility letter based on a national criminal record search dated 10/16/2020 and the findings of a central registry search dated 10/20/2020. 3. A member of management confirmed this information during a 10/27/2020 phone conversation.
Plan of Correction:
We will obtain all required background checks within the required timeframes for any future staff that are hired.
