Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
An unannounced renewal inspection conduced on January 14, 2021, approximately from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. There were 27 children supervised by 7 direct care staff.
The physical plant, 3 staff records, 3 children?s records, children activities, children's activities, emergency procedures, drills and supplies were inspected. During the inspection, children were observed resting at individual activities, eating snack and outdoor play. The interactions between the children and caregivers were seen to be positive and constructive in nature.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on staff records review, the center did not obtain criminal history records check prior to the first day of employment. Evidence: Staff #2 (date of hire 10/18/2018) did not have criminal history records results documented and available for review in the record on the day of inspection.

Based on review of staff records, the center did not obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record check and sex offender registry check from any state in which the agent has resided in the preceding five years by the deadline of December 31, 2020.
Evidence: 1. Staff #1 lived in Arizona (AZ) within the last 5 years. The results of a child abuse and neglect registry and sex offender registry check were not obtained from AZ.
