An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 2/6/24 from 10:15am to 12:45pm in conjunction with a monitoring inspection (see that inspection report for details). The two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Five staff records were reviewed for documentation of the mandatory Virginia Preservice Training, Health & Safety Update training, and current certification in First Aid and CPR. There are children currently enrolled with diagnosed food allergies and their records were reviewed for allergy care plans. The last lockdown drill was documented on 2/8/23. Please complete the "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" areas on the Violation Notice for each violation cited and return to me by close of business on 2/16/24. Plans of correction should include steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard, and measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again.
Based on review of five staff records, the vendor did not ensure that all staff who work directly with children obtained and maintained current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within 90 days of employment. Evidence: 1. Staff #5, with an employment date of 10/2/23, did not have CPR certification. 2. The CPR certification for Staff #1 and Staff #4 expired on 1/22/24.
Plan of Correction:
Staff #5 now has it (was scheduled for 2/10/24). Staff #4 now has it (same class). Staff #1 is scheduled for 3/9/24.
