Four children?s records, two staff records, and two household members? records were reviewed and were in compliance. The provider and assistant have current certification in CPR and First Aid. Four medications and authorization forms were reviewed and the provider and assistant have current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT). Morning snack today was peaches and milk. The emergency drill log, attendance, and menu were also reviewed and were in compliance. The most recent evacuation drill was documented 2/28/20 and the most recent shelter-in-place drill was documented 1/21/20. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@dss.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.
Based on review of four medications for one child, parents were not notified that medications with expired authorizations needed to be picked up within 14 days of expiring or the parent must renew the authorization. Evidence: The Licensing Inspector (LI) observed an emergency inhaler, Benadryl, an Epi-Pen, and Diazepan on site for Child A, all with authorization dated 9/11/18, which expired on 9/11/19.
Plan of Correction:
We will let the parents know as soon as possible and obtain new authorization.
