Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A monitoring inspection was initiated on July 30 ,2020 and concluded on July 31, 2020. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 23 children present and 6 staff. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on review of 5 staff records, the licensee did not ensure the licensed or registered child welfare agency has obtained a central registry(CPS) finding within 30 days of employment or volunteer service for all staff or be denied continued employment or volunteer service.
Evidence: The records for staff #3 date of hire 2-10-2020 did not include a CPS finding. Center staff #4 confirmed staff #3 was working during the inspection. The CPS check was submitted on 1-24-2020 as confirmed by center staff #5.
Plan of Correction:
Center has contacted VDSS for a copy of the check and will continue to do so until they respond and return the form.
