Technical Assistance:
All child care programs must continue measures to keep children physically distanced and with consistent caregivers, use face coverings, monitor children and staff for symptoms, and maintain ongoing compliance with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) health and safety recommendations. All programs are required to notify VDH and the licensing inspector and follow all recommendations if there is a confirmation of a positive case of COVID-19.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 2/4/2021 with an exit interview on 2/12/2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 27 children present, ages three - ten years of age, with six staff supervising. The Inspector reviewed five children's records, six staff records, the emergency drill log, medication and authorization forms, meals and snacks, enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of toys and surfaces, and daily indoor and outdoor activities. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with standards that are documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on review of five children's records, it was determined that not all records contained all required information. Evidence: the records for child #1 did not have the full name for a second emergency contact and child #3 did not have the complete addresses for the home, physician, and two emergency contacts.

Based on review of four medications, the facility did not have written authorization from the child's parent for long term prescription medication. Evidence: the medication authorization forms for child #1's three medications did not have a parent signature.
