Technical Assistance:
The license and current inspection must be posted in a visible location to parents.
The written parent authorization for diaper ointment or cream, sunscreen and insect repellent must note any adverse reactions.
Diaper ointment or cream, sunscreen and insect repellent must be labeled with the child's name and does not need to be kept locked but shall be inaccessible to children.
Children's records must contain names of persons authorized to pick up the child.

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 10/4/22 and concluded on 10/4/22. There were 57 children present, ranging in ages from four months to six years, with 19 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of four child records and four staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:

In the downstairs restroom outside of the theatre room, a spray bottle of Method Antibacterial cleaner was on an open shelf above the toilet.

Plan of Correction: All hazardous substances will be moved to a locked location. Staff will be retrained in the standard.
