This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternative remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 04/09/2020 and concluded on 04/10/2020. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children in care as the facility is currently no operating due to the pandemic. The inspector emailed the in-charge person a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector review 2 children?s records, 2 staff records and 3 board officer/agent records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
Based on document review, the facility failed to ensure that every applicant for licensure as a child day center shall undergo a background check in accordance with The Code of Virginia prior to issuance of a license as a child day center and every five years thereafter.
Evidence: The date on the search of the central in the record for Board Officer/Agent #3 was dated 04/15/2014. There was not a 2019 repeat search of the central registry available for review.
Plan of Correction:
A form was completed and will be mailed to obtain an updated search.
