Technical Assistance:
Discussion of out-of-state CPS checks sent and their place holder observed on file. Further discussion centered around timetable for both out-of-state CPS checks and out-of-state criminal record checks (CRC).
Discussion of resilient surfacing on outdoor playgrounds. CDC is looking to replace existing surfacing on its outdoor playgrounds.
Licensing Inspection met with the newly hired center director for the first time.
Comments:
This monitoring inspection was initiated by licensing staff and concluded on 07/20/2023, between the hours of 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. There were 118 children present, ranging from infant to school-age, with 20 staff supervising, across 10 separate classrooms. The summer camp program left the grounds today on a filed trip. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration; physical plant; staffing and supervision; programming; medication; special care and emergencies; and nutrition. A total of 10 children records, and 11 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined that there was (1) non-compliance with an applicable code. This violation was documented on the Violation Notice issued to the center.

Based on review, 1 of 11 staff files indicated that the Child Day Center (CDC) did not obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check (CRC) from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years before reporting to the child day center,
Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (07/20/2023), an out-of-state CRC from the State of Alabama was not available for review for Staff #6. 2. The start date for Staff #6 was listed as 05/19/2023.
Plan of Correction:
A request for an out-of-state background check for Staff #6 will be sent off to the State of Alabama within 10 days. Once this finding is obtained it will be shared with the Licensing Inspector (LI). The finding will be placed in Staff #6's file.
