This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A self reported investigation inspection was initiated on 10/25/2020 and 11/20/2020 and concluded on 12/10/2020. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
Based on written interviews with staff, the center failed to ensure that physical punishment, striking a child, roughly handling or shaking a child was not used as a form of punishment.
Evidence: 1. Staff # 2 stated that she witnessed staff # 1 spank Child # 1. Staff # 1 verified that she did spank the child and that it was a mistake and was sorry. There was no visible marks on child # 1.
Plan of Correction:
Due to center's policies the staff person was let go. The administration had staff review all policies on Forbidden actions.
