An unannounced subsidy inspection was conducted on Thursday, February 20, 2020 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The licensing inspector was on site from approximately 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. The following ratios were observed with a total of 32 children present during the inspection: Infants - 4 children with 1 staff Toddlers - 4 children with 1 staff Twos - 7 children with 1 staff Threes - 9 children with 1 staff Fours - 8 children with 1 staff School Age children were not present during the inspection.
Children were sleeping in cribs, looking at books, having their diapers changed and taking bathroom breaks, completing worksheets, practicing writing, reviewing the calendar, eating lunch and resting at naptime. All areas used by children were inspected to include the classrooms, kitchen, hallways, bathrooms and outdoor play areas. During the inspection, five children's records and five staff records were reviewed.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. A violation was found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and is identified on the violation notice.
If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact licensing inspector at (804) 662-9790.
Based on documentation review, the vendor did not ensure the emergency preparedness plan addressed the continuity of operations procedures to ensure that essential functions are maintained during an emergency.
Evidence: The emergency preparedness plan did not contain continuity of operation procedures to ensure that essential functions are maintained during an emergency.
Plan of Correction:
We did not realize this was an added requirement. I will complete the model form that addresses the requirements and add it to the emergency preparedness plan.
