Technical assistance was offered regarding medications.
Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. There were 6 children (18 points) in direct care of 3 caregivers. The children were observed eating morning snack, napping, washing hands after using the bathroom, and playing outdoors. 5 children's records, 3 caregiver records and 1 household member record was reviewed. Medications, emergency drill records and first aid supplies were reviewed. A walk through of the family day home was conducted. Areas of non compliance are listed in the violation notice. Based on observation and record review, the family day home did not obtain written authorization for prescription medication, and the prescription medication was not maintained in it's original packaging. Evidence: 1. Child # 3 had a long term emergency medication on site. 2. The medication was not maintained in it's original labeled container dispensed by the pharmacy. 3. The provider did not obtain written authorization from the physician.

I will ask the parents to complete the form and bring in the original packaging for the medication.
