Technical Assistance:
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 6/3/2021 and concluded on 6/9/2021. The Youth Development Director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children or staff present at the time of inspection as the program has not begun operating for the current season. The inspector emailed the Director a list of items required to complete the inspection. In addition, a virtual tour of the camp grounds, buildings and equipment was conducted on 6/8/2021. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 4 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-50-B
Description: Based on a review of records and interview, the licensee did not ensure that all staff records are maintained and made accessible for two years after separation from employment.
Evidence:
Four staff records were selected from the staff roster submitted for inspection on 6/30/2020. The camp has not yet opened for the current season and staffing is still being assigned.
There was no staff record available for staff #3, who was employed and worked at the camp last summer but who is no longer employed by the licensee. This record was selected for review but the program director was unable to locate the file for review during the inspection.

Plan of Correction: The program director will ensure that staff records are maintained in a locked area, accessible only to applicable staff, and kept for a period of 2 years following termination of the staff member's employment.
