Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 03/17/2023. There were 22 children present and 4 staff. A tour of the facility was conducted, in addition to a record review and interviews with staff. Children were observed eating lunch and during nap. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-260-A
Description: Based on a record review the center did not have documentation of having an annual fire inspection. The fire inspection posted on the parent board was dated 2019. Staff were not aware of there was a more recent inspection.

Plan of Correction: The center will be checking with facilities to see if an inspection has been done. If itt has not it will be scheduled as soon as possible.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure that when a child is wet that they are changed immediately.
Evidence:
A child was observed laying on a cot crying. The staff stated she was crying because she spilled milk on herself. The staff stated to the child that she was going to have to wait to be changed until she finished eating her lunch while it was hot. The child continued to cry. When the staff finished eating she said out loud, "she doesn't need changing anymore, she has dried. "

Plan of Correction: The program leader and child advocate both stated they will be speaking about this with upper management so that it can be addressed.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-F
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all requirements were met when providing meals and snacks.
Evidence:
The menu posted on the parent board was for future meals and was not dated the week in which the meals were served.

Plan of Correction: The program leader thinks someone tore the current menu from the board leaving the menu for the following week. The program leader will ensure the correct menu is posted.
