Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 7/12/2023. There were 72 children, ages 2 years-11 years, 14 staff and 2 administrative staff present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel, environment and equipment, care of children, preventing the spread of disease, emergencies and nutrition. Medications were observed during the inspection. A total of 5 children?s records, 3 staff records and 8 medications were reviewed. The children were observed during center time, circle time, handwashing, lunch and nap time. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 10:40am and departed the center at 1:15pm.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances, such as cleaning materials, were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: The boys bathroom in the last preschool room on the left side of the hallway contained a Swiffer mop with cleaning solution located on the right side of the bathroom entrance. No children were observed in the area but it was accessible to children.
Plan of Correction:
Provider will store mop and solution in a locked closet.
