Comments:
A focused monitoring inspection was conducted this date for the purpose of reviewing staff qualifications. Staff records and staff training documentation were reviewed. Staff interviews conducted. A violation regarding lead teacher qualifications was found today. The six month Provisional license expires in January. It is imperative that all staff designated as lead teachers meet the requirements of qualifying within the required timeframes. Please email me at:lisa.hudson@dss.virginia.gov with any questions.
Based on review of staff training documentation and staff records, 3 out of the 9 staff do not meet the qualifications for a lead teacher. Evidence: Staff #1 was hired on 9/10/19 and has received only 16 of the 24 hours of required lead teacher training. Staff #2 was hired on 3/16/15 and has received only 18 of the 24 hours of required lead teacher training. Staff #3 was hired 11/14/18 and has received only 16 of the 24 hours of required lead teacher training. 24 hours of required training is to be completed within 30 days of hire.
Plan of Correction:
These three staff will complete the remainder of the training by 12/1/19. Completed training documentation will be forwarded to the Licensing Inspector. All new staff hired that do not qualify as leads and will be in a lead capacity will complete the required training within 30 days of hire. Documentation of completed training will be maintained.
