Technical Assistance:
1. Discussed occupied crib spacing in infant room(s).
2. Inspector to provide out of-state background check chart, and national sex offender search registry link.

Comments:
Conducted an unannounced inspection at 10:45am. Observed 120 children + 23 direct-care staff. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed in a variety of activities to include: painting and other art projects, science, word/name recognition, story time, playing with indoor toys, active outdoor play, and eating lunch. Infants were being held, fed, having tummy-time on the floor, and napping. Staff were actively engaged with the children and activities. Lunch served included: grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, fruit, and milk. Classrooms were found to be clean and well supplied with toys + equipment for the children. The school is participating in the State VQB5 quality program. Recordkeeping was in good order. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@doe.virginia.gov

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-340-D
Description: Based on observations made and records reviewed, it was determined that 1 of 12 classrooms did not have a program lead qualified teacher regularly present. Evidence: Staff #1, who is not lead qualified, was observed working alone with a group of children. The program director stated they are trying to hire a lead qualified teacher for that classroom/age group.

Plan of Correction: Management staff stated they are actively recruiting + trying to hire a lead qualified teacher as soon as possible.
