Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 01/18/2024 between the hours of approximately 9:45 am and 11:20 am. There were 10 children present, ranging in ages from 12 months to 2 years. 4 caregivers were on site, with 3 of them directly supervising the children. Children were observed while playing with toys, completing puzzles, eating snack, and being bottle fed. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Maria Robles at maria.robles@doe.virginia.gov.
Based on documentation and medication review, the provider did not ensure that, when the medication authorization was not available, that medication was picked up by the parent. Evidence: 1) On the date of inspection, medication for Child #4 and Child #5 was available in the family day home. Authorization forms for this medication was not available for review.
Plan of Correction:
I will talk to the parents to request an authorization form or give them back the medication.
