Technical Assistance:
Consultation was provided regarding recent legislative updates. Senate Bill 668, effective 7/1/2020, requires licensed child day centers to obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history name search and sex offender registry check from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/5/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 7 children present and 2 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Please complete the columns for "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" for each violation cited on the violation notice, and then return a signed and dated copy to the licensing office by 4pm on Thursday, 11/12/2020. Based on record review, the center did not submit an out of state child abuse and neglect registry search request by the 30th day of employment for all staff who have resided outside the state of Virginia within the last 5 years.
Evidence: Staff #1 (Date of Hire: 3/4/2017) has resided in the state of Texas within the last 5 years and does not have documentation of an out of state child abuse and neglect registry search request being sent.

Forms haved printed and we are currently working on submitting them.
