Potable Water Lead Testing Requirements The VDOE recently distributed memos to licensed child day programs, certified preschools and religiously exempt child day centers, sharing the requirement to develop and implement a plan to test potable water pursuant to ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia. The VDOE will begin determining compliance with this statute effective January 1, 2025. The memos can be found on the VDOE child care website: www.childcare.virginia.gov.
Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 11:45am - 12:30pm with staff. There were 13 children, ranging from two years to eight years of age, present with two staff supervising. Children were observed playing in centers, making dragon breath, and participating in a dragon hunt. Reviewed two child records, two staff records along with the emergency drill log, written daily attendance, fire and health inspections and the required posted information. Based on review of two staff records, the facility failed to obtain repeat Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry search results every 5 years, as required, for all staff. Evidence: the record for staff #1 had Central Registry Search results dated: 5/17/2019.
